Hello! I’m Deb. I love to sew. From 2012 I ran and owned The PlainStitch Workroom in Wendover, Bucks ( http://www.plainstitch.co.uk) until spring 2017. You could call my quilt making a hobby, but it’s more of a compulsion! I sew every day and every quiet moment in my busy family life with 3 young kids and a menagerie of pets I’m dreaming of new projects. I’ve been making quilts since it wasn’t at all fashionable and I am evangelical about encouraging people to make a quilt. I think it’s the most special sewing you can do. I love old fashioned patterns and traditional methods updated in modern fabrics, I’m a contemporary traditionalist. I set up The PlainStitch Workroom in 2012 to share my love of patchwork and quilting. I design quilts and teach quilting classes as well as all manner of other fabric projects. I’m always dreaming up new ways to use lovely fabric. I’m a student of the social history of quilt making.
I love to feel the thread of history in the patterns I sew. I work with the IT & Social Media committee to help share the rich history of quilt making this country enjoys.
